Whale Watching - Conveniently board a whale watching tour boat in the Inner Harbour. There are many companies to choose from, whether you wish to take a Zodiac, covered boat or Scarab boat. Estimated duration: 3h. Estimated cost: $90-$120.

Kayaking - Renting a Kayak is easy and convenient in downtown Victoria, with several companies to choose from. Rent one on your own or join a tour. There are endless waterways to discover!

Victoria Marine Aventure Centre - Your one stop marine adventure super centre. Whale Watching and marine wildlife tours, Seaplane tours, sport fishing, boat rentals and charters, kayaking and city tours.

Victoria Area Beaches and Lakes - Victoria is surrounded by beautiful beaches and lakes, from rocky beaches to sand beaches and freshwater lakes;

Suggestions: Dallas Road, Island View Beach, Esquimalt Lagoon, Witty's Lagoon, Elk Lake, Thetis Lake, Sooke Potholes.

 

Land Adventures:

Golf - Victoria boasts year round golf and is home to some of Canada's top courses. From 9 hole, par 3 courses to world class championship courses, there is something for every skill level.

Wine Tours - Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands are known as the "wine islands", with more than 20 wineries and cider producers. Many wineries are located in the Cowichan Valley, just 45 minutes from Victoria and several are right here on the Saanich Peninsula. Explore the wineries on your own or on a guided tour.



Parks, Gardens, Walking or Hiking:

Butchart Gardens - Since 1904, the world famous Butchart Gardens is fifty-five acres of wonderful floral display, offering spectacular views as you stroll along meandering paths and expansive lawns. Estimated duration: 3h. Estimated admission fee: $28 high season

Beacon Hill Park and Dallas Road - Victoria's largest park is just three blocks south of Abigail's Hotel at the foot of Quadra Street. Wander around the beautiful flower gardens, duck ponds and wild daffodil fields. Cross Dallas Road for wonderful oceanfront walkways.

Inner Harbour to Songhees Walkway - Just an 8 to 10 minute walk from Abigail's Hotel is Victoria's Inner Harbour which is home to many attractions such as the Royal London Wax Museum, Pacific Undersea Gardens, Victoria Maritime Museum, and the British Columbia Legislature. Many musicians and artists showcase their talents to thousands of spectators. Watch the float-planes, ferries and boats come and go while walking around Victoria's lively harbour. Cross the blue Johnson St. Bridge to continue along the Songhees waterfront.

Goldstream Provincial Park - Just 25 minutes from Abigail's Hotel, Goldstream Provincial Park lies amid the splendour of Southern Vancouver Island's old-growth temperate rain forest and is home to the salmon run October-December. Hardy hikers can enjoy a rugged climb to the top of Mount Finlayson for a magnificent view

Mount Douglas Park - 20 minutes from downtown Victoria, drive or hike to the top of this park, known for native wildflowers, and enjoy 360 degree views of Victoria, Saanich Peninsula and Sooke Hills.

Gowlland Tod Provincial Park - Located 30 minutes from Victoria, this provincial park offers over 25 km of trails, varying in degree of difficulty, with spectacular views. A great place for the avid or recreational hiker and nature lover.

East Sooke Park - Experience West Coast wilderness at its best! Enjoy hiking along the windswept rocky coast, hilltops, through dark rain forest to sheltered coves. This is the largest CRD park, with over 1422 hectares of protected coastal landscape.

Victoria Butterfly Gardens - designed and built specifically to showcase the life cycle and free flight of tropical butterflies and moths. The 12,000 sq ft enclosure is a riot of tropical colour, aroma's and personalities. Stars of the show are the butterflies themselves - 3000 of them fluttering amongst the flora!  Enjoy up close the stunning beauty and colour of exotic butterflies, tropical ducks, flamingos, other rare tropical birds and Koi swimming in the stream and pond.
